What cookies and similar technologies Local Markers uses, and how to change your mind.
Last updated: 10 April 2026 · Local Markers, North Wales
This page explains the cookies and similar browser storage technologies used on localmarkers.co.uk. For the broader picture of how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website asks your browser to store. Some are essential for a site to work (for example, remembering that you’re logged in). Others are optional and are used for things like measuring how people use the site. Under the UK’s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, non-essential cookies may only be set with your explicit consent.
Local Markers does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking pixels. We do not sell data to third parties. The only non-essential technology we use is Google Analytics, and it is loaded only if you click Accept analytics on our cookie banner.
Cookies and similar storage we use
Essential (always on)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
kirby_session |
Local Markers | Keeps you signed in to the client portal and admin area. Without this cookie, secure login pages cannot work. | Session (cleared when the browser closes) |
csrf token |
Local Markers | Protects forms and the client portal against cross-site request forgery attacks. Not used for tracking. | Session |
lm_consent (localStorage) |
Local Markers | Remembers your cookie banner choice (Accepted or Declined) so we don’t ask on every page. Stored in your browser only. | Until you clear browser data |
| Stripe Checkout cookies | Stripe | If you pay for a service, Stripe sets its own cookies on the Checkout page it hosts (checkout.stripe.com) for payment security and fraud prevention. These are only set if you actually start a payment. |
Varies — see stripe.com/cookie-settings |
Analytics (only with your consent)
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes unique visitors so we can measure how many people visit the site and which pages are most useful. IP addresses are anonymised. | 2 years |
_ga_ZZZ7SC2VL8 |
Google Analytics 4 | Persists session state for our specific GA4 property. | 2 years |
Google Analytics is operated by Google LLC. Google may process data collected here in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Google’s own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies.
- No retargeting or remarketing pixels (no Meta/Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok pixel, no Google Ads conversion tags).
- No session replay or heatmap tools.
- No cross-site tracking of any kind.
Do Not Track
If your browser sends the Do Not Track signal, Local Markers honours it automatically: we neither show the consent banner nor load Google Analytics on your device.
How to change your mind
You can accept or decline analytics at any time using the buttons below. Declining also works retroactively — once you click Decline, no further GA4 requests will be made from this browser.
You can also clear the lm_consent value by clearing site data in your browser settings, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
Your current choice
You can change your analytics preference at any time. Your choice is stored in this browser only — if you switch device, clear your site data, or use a private window, you’ll be asked again.
